A Little More About Me

Esteban Rael

As a native New Mexican, I was fortunate enough to grow up in a state with breathtaking beauty that has been chronicled by photographers, such as Paul Strand, Edward Weston, and Ansel Adams; painted by artists like Oscar E. Berninghaus, Gustave Baumann, and Georgia O’Keefe; described in novels by Willa Cather, D.H. Lawrence, and John Nichols; featured in films by directors Mike Nichols, Joel and Ethan Cohen, and Robert Redford, just to name a few. And that lists only those from other places who came to and fell in love with The Land of Enchantment. There is a rich tradition of Native and Spanish art that has flourished in this land for centuries. Surrounded by such a wealth of inspiration, how could I not hear the whisper of the muse?
